Plug in a USB barcode scanner and sell faster: every scan adds the right product to the order in Oja POS. Here is how to set it up.

Typing product names at a busy counter is slow and leads to mistakes. With a barcode scanner, one beep adds the right item at the right price. Oja POS listens for scans anywhere on the screen, so you do not even need to click the search box first.
Before you start
- The Odogwu or Chairman plan.
- A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types like a keyboard. Most cheap scanners sold in Nigeria do.
- The barcode saved on each product in Oja, in the product's Barcode field.
Save the barcode on each product
Open a product in Oja and fill in Barcode: scan the code into the field, or type the numbers under the bars. Do this once for each product. Products with sizes or colours can have a barcode for each one.
Open Oja POS and scan
Plug in the scanner and open Sell at the counter (POS). Scan an item. Oja finds it by its barcode and adds it to the order on the right, with a short Added note. Scan the same item again to add one more.
No barcode on an item? Type its name in the search box instead.

Check the order and complete
Every scanned item shows in the order with its price and quantity. Choose how the customer paid and click Complete.

Tips for scanning
- Set your scanner to send Enter after each code (most do by default).
- If Oja says Not Found, the barcode is not saved on any product yet. Add it to the product and scan again.
- Out-of-stock items are not added. Restock them first.
Try Oja POS
Oja is free to start. Open your store, add your products and move to Odogwu when you are ready to sell at the counter from your laptop or tablet.
